Type at home programs and their bold, $500+ a day claims. Convincingly looking screenshots. Thousands of positive testimonials. High Clickbank listings. Man, that just has to be right!

If you have ever bought any type at home program, you probably know how sarcastic the above description is, and are very unlikely to buy more in the future. Or, maybe you were lucky enough and bought the one that did actually stand to its promise.

One way or another, the actual 'secrets' most of those programs teach you for your $50 are something like this:
  1. Sign up with Clickbank
  2. Find a product to promote
  3. Sign up for Google Adwords
  4. Create a campaign on Google Adwords
  5. See the money rolling in!
That's great, isn't it? You can literally be making money in less than 15 minutes from now! Start to look forward to your brand new Ferrari now! But wait. There's a catch. And that is...

...That it just doesn't work that way. In reality, it's much harder to make money with Clickbank and Adwords, especially if you are on a tight budget. 99 out of 100 times the beginning Internet marketer will choose absolutely wrong keywords, create an absolutely crappy ad and lose a lot of money, while the merchant is laughing all the way to the bank.

Thanks, but that doesn't excite me too much. I am more interested in building a solid business rather than handing fifty bucks to someone who has never made a dime online except for selling his latest 'Google Adwords For Idiots' guide.

Anyway, there are legitimate ways to make money on the Internet, promoting affiliate programs via Google Adwords included, however, they don't work the way most people think they do. You would have to invest at least a few hundreds of dollars to stand a chance to succeed.

But what if you are just starting out? Is there an easy, low-cost way for an Internet newbie without a million dollar budget to make money on the Internet without getting burnt out?

Yes, there is. And one of those ways is to promote CPL, or Cost Per Lead Programs. These are the programs that pay you every time someone enters their contact details through your link, and leave actual selling to the merchant.

Think about it. Don't you think it's much easier to get someone to enter his contact details, especially when he gets an incentive in return, than to sell him some 'make money online' junk?

It surely is. But how do you go about the actual promotion? Well, although you can go and try to market it with PPC, you would probably be much more successful if you used a free marketing method, one of which is the forum marketing method.

Forum marketing consists of using so called forum 'signatures' to promote your CPL offers. I know you probably have no idea how discussion forums can make you money, so let's demonstrate it.

Imagine you have just signed up for a ring tone CPL program. They pay you ten bucks everyone someone you referred gives them their contact details. Now what you would do is to sign up for some popular ring tone discussion forum, create a link to your CPL offer from your signature, and start posting relevant and meaningful posts, preferably daily.

Now imagine what could happen if thousands of people interested in ring tones would see your signature saying 'Free Ring tones - Click Here'. Do you think they would be interested?
